Plant and Oil Description

Tea tree oil is a traditional medicine that is sourced from the tea tree plant native to Australia. The shrubs grow along streams and in swamps, producing delicate white, snowflake-like flowers. As a powerful antiviral, antibacterial, antiseptic, and antifungal, tea tree oil has found its way into many natural products on the shelves. Making your own concoctions ensures that you can control exactly what goes into the products you use on your body for safe, all-natural alternatives to commercial products.

What’s it Good For?

  1. Hand sanitizer – Always have hand sanitizer at your disposal with SenseLAB’s tea tree oil! Laboratory results have shown that tea tree oil is effective against common bacteria and viruses, including those that cause the common cold, pneumonia, and influenza. Dilute our tea tree oil with ethanol, aloe vera, fractionated coconut oil, and your favorite SenseLAB aromas for a moisturizing hand sanitizer that smells just the way you like it!
  2. First aid – Disinfect minor wounds and help prevent infection with SenseLAB’s tea tree oil. Strong antiseptic properties make tree oil is a must-have for any first-aid kit. Dilute our tea tree oil with a carrier oil and apply regularly to the affected area.
  3. Acne breakouts  Tea tree oil is a safe alternative to benzoyl peroxide, the leading anti-acne medication. Studies have shown that tea tree oil reduces the severity of acne and is just as effective as benzoyl peroxide. Simply dilute SenseLAB’s tea tree oil with water and apply with a cotton swab to spot-treat, or add to your regular facial wash.
  4. Insect repellant – Store-bought insect repellents have chemical additives that can be harmful to your health. Using a natural insect repellent, like SenseLAB’s tea tree oil, is a safer alternative to chemical repellents. One study showed that tea tree oil was even more effective at keeping mosquitos at bay than DEET, the most common chemical insect repellent. Dilute with SenseLAB’s fractionated coconut oil and apply directly to skin to keep pests at bay.
  5. Deodorant – Sweat is the human body’s natural way of cooling down, but when combined with the bacteria that sticks to your skin, it can create unpleasant body odor. Tea tree oil breaks down the bacteria that causes body odor, and is safer than commercial products that can contain harmful ingredients such as aluminum, parabens, phthalates, and more. Dilute with water and, if desired, combine with any of SenseLAB’s fragrant essential oils to make your own deodorant.
